Service History | |||||||
A training squadron at the outbreak of the war and later absorbed into an Operational Training Unit (OTU), the squadron was reformed on 7 May 1941 within No 2 Group flying B-17 Fortresses in a daylight bombing role. This proved to be an unsuccessful experiment and the Fortress was phased out later the same year. Disbanded in February 1942, only to be reformed for a second time this time within No. 3 Group on 7 November 1942, and continued to operate within the group until the end of the war | |||||||
