Service History

An operational squadron in No. 2 Group at the outbreak of the war. After suffering heavy losses, the squadron was transferred in March 1943 to India, and operated in this theatre of operations until the wars’ end

Of Note:

Flew 10 weather and photo-reconnaissance operations (included in Op’s and Losses)

Flew photo-reconnaissance sorties to Germany before the end of September 1939

Flew the most bombing raids and sweeps, and suffered the most losses in all Blenheim squadron’s

Sank U-31 off Bochum on 11 March 1940. The U-Boat was later salvaged and returned to service but was later depth charged and sunk by the destroyer HMS Antelope in the Atlantic on 2 November 1940
