Formed from No. 1474 Flight on 4 January 1943 and attached to No. 3 Group as a specialist radio counter-measures (RCM) squadron. Remained with the group until being transferred in November 1943 to the newly formed No. 100 (Bomber Support) Group

A detachment of American aircrew (USAAF) flew Lightning’s with the squadron
