Service History

Assigned to the Advanced Air Striking Force (AASF) at the outbreak of the war, the squadron remained in this role until being transferred in May 1940 to England and Bomber Command’s No. 2 Group. In August 1941 the entire squadron was posted to the Middle East; where it was eventually absorbed into other units and lost its identity. August 1942 saw the squadron reformed in England and once again attached to No. 2 Group, however after only one month of service the squadron was once more posted the too Middle East
