Service History

Part of No. 5 group at the outbreak of the war, the squadron was transferred to Coastal Command in April 1942 for training as a torpedo-bomber squadron. It remained with Coastal Command in this role for the remainder of the war

On 28 September 1939, 5 Hampden’s (the entire squadron) was shot down including the aircraft flown by W/C J.C. Cunningham
